Default Lexus Loaners

What's the deal with the Lexus Loaners? I never get one. They always put me in an enterprise rental even though I request a loaner. I'm driving a Chevy Aveo today while my GX is in for warranty work - yes, a Chevy Aveo.

I've gotten a Lexus loaner only one time and that was back in 2005. I even switched dealers, today was my first time at the new one and they still put me in an Enterprise rental. What gives? Is it because I usually drop my car off around 9am and all the loaners are gone? I could see that happening on a busy Saturday but today is Tuesday. What gives?

My experience has been the opposite -

I have always gotten a Lexus for a loaner at the dealer I use for service, and I didn't even buy my GX from them. Heck, I didn't even buy my GX new or CPO.

You should ask your service advisor that question.

Yeah I had both cases. IS and a Toy 4-Runner. Interesting that you recieved a GS jolex. I specifically asked the dealership to get me a GS as a loaner because I was interested in buying one and they said they didn't loan GSs. I guess it depends on the dealership. I'm confused with it. Ask your service advisor as The_G_Man suggested.

Sewell Lexus in Dallas has always provided my choice of a free loaner Lexus SUV or Lexus Sedan. I always choose the Lexus sedan just to drive something different for a day or so.

I always get a Lexus loaner, never had a problem. Now when my wife takes her BMW in that is a different story, they only have so many BMW loaners so if you are unlucky and come at the end of the day when they are busy then you get some other brand, usually something not very nice.

I work at BMW as a service advisor, we have BMW loaners and you have to schedule out a loaner if you want one. No problem getting a loaner if you ask as you are scheduling an appt.

What's the nicest of the BMW loaners in your fleet? X3s and 3 series, right? Any "35's" or 5 series?!

True, we do ask for a loaner when we make the appointment which is usually 3-7 days out. Sometimes at the end of the day if they are busy you just miss out. The dealer we use has X3's and base 3 series available. The other dealer we used to use had every make BMW sells available as loaners. That was very nice because you could drive different vehicles to try them out.

My BMW dealer loaned me a 335iX sedan... Acceleration was brisk...

(Came through a toll booth with another car on either side of me, so I punched it... I had hit 85 MPH by the time I got to the lane divider lines... )

And, so as to stay on topic, my Lexus dealer always provides Lexus loaners... my most recent one was an RX400h...

I will say I did notice one change in that now my Lexus dealer mentions that "the loaner car gas is 3/4 full and they would like it the same upon return". They didn't used to say that. I normally drive it straight to my office where it sits all day until my car is ready and I normally do not add any gas and they have never made it in an issue. I guess some people would burn through an entire tank and return it on "E".
