with a 38K entry point this car is going to steal some G37 drivers from Nissan. Thats a lot of power they are offering. I hope the reliability is solid on the ford. I still wouldnt bet my money on an American car

I test drove a regular (not SHO) Taurus limited w/ nav a week or two ago.
It had a very vault-like substantial feel to it... much like a Lexus GS or Acura RL and not hallow like the Lexus ES.
It was definitely firmer over bumps than the LaCrosse but never lost composure... in some ways it reminded me of the drive of a Benz E-class... firm but solid.
The interior had a lot of nice high quality and well assembled materials but I didn't really care for the layout. It felt kind of claustrophobic with the high dash and high doors... like they stuffed an SUV's interior into a large car. I thought the styling was OK but not great... I much prefer the LaCrosse's interior style though I found the quality to be comparable in their own ways.
Ford's nav is very nice and the sync system is great.
This car, the LaCrosse, and the Genesis all seem very comparable to me... all large, all large luxury class vehicles without the luxury badge. All very good value.

It's nice to see a couple of new cars like these on the market. Good for the U.S. auto industry and good for consumers.
With the SHO I'd wait a year or so to see how the eco-boost holds up.

The lease on my ES350 is up in December, so I have been out driving potential replacements. The Taurus SHO is one of these. It was surprising in several areas. It is quiter than my Lexus up to about 80 mph which is as fast as I got on the highway. It rides very well, firm and well controlled but not stiff. Make no mistake, this car is fast! It really nails you to the back of the seat at almost any speed.
There were a couple of luxury features that I liked. The cooled seats have a high speed fan setting where you can really feel the cool air on your back and bottom. The blind spot identification system will show cars approaching from the side as you back out from between SUV's or vans.
The car I drove had a sticker price of $45K which is a little cheaper than the sticker price for my ES350 UL. For this price, the SHO was much faster, quiter inside, had AWD, and had more room inside and in the trunk.
I'm not quite sold yet, but am leaning toward the SHO.

I love what Ford has done with the SHO. It really is a sort of segment buster (I've probably said that before). You get speed, AWD, a great interior, tons of room and potential aftermarket.
Once you can get past the badge, it really makes A LOT of cars look oddly priced.

Not so fast! Infiniti is supposed to go Direct Injection very soon. That will put the G37 at about 360 HP.

That might be true if both cars are staying stock. A stock TT motor always has more potential when it comes to modding and tuning than a NA motor. A simple tune with exhaust, fmic and boost cut/mild tune on a SHO will probably walk a G37 with bolt on stuff like Intake, header and exhaust. The question of reliability comes into play with Ford but only time will tell.

When you are over 6' tall and have a family, that means a lot (at least it does to me)!! My dad raised me to be a Ford man and I had 2 Mustangs, a Thunderbird and my wife had a Taurus back in 1990 when they first came out. I really like the looks of the SHO but would have to wait and see how the reliability is before I could really consider it.
