I like the choice. A well-appointed, yet fairly sensible car like the Genesis is representative of what we're about up here in Canada.

Very nice. I believe it was also North American COTY?

Yes, perhaps so, but, IMO, there are other deserving vehicles, too, such as the Chevy Volt, Chevy Camaro, Honda Insight Hybrid, Honda FCX fuel-cell car, Nissan GT-R, Ford Fusion Hybrid, Toyota Venza, and Audi Q5.

Of course, a lot depends, I guess, over how many of these vehicles are for sale (or lease, in the case of the FCX) in Canada.

None of those other cars are really worth mention imo.

GTR sure but that's a outright supercar and it'll have less of an impact on the general public.

The GT-R has been around for a while, obviously. The Venza just recently became available. The rest that you listed are not available yet.

the Genesis is nice and all....but I'm sorry, there's no way I'd EVER pay that much for a Hyundai (mid $30's on Ebay).

maybe they should have come out with a luxury division or something.

That's what they said when toyota come out with LS back in the day.

IMHO, this is a well deserved award for Hyundai.

The Genesis is very interesting to me because it represents how quickly an upstart can rise to serious engineering and assembly consideration. Hyundai has, in many ways, just leap-frogged Detroit to start to present a real threat to the well regarded imports. If nothing else Hyundai's latest slew of products, starting with the Genesis sedan, shows the world the company's commitment and aggressiveness. They should not be scoffed at.

nope....the LS came out as a Lexus -- a luxury division of Toyota.

Hyundai should have done the same thing...if they are trying to go upscale -- create an upscale brand.
