Test-Driving VW's Touareg Hybrid
#16
I like how new Touareg looks, it is very nice car... but without proper hybrid system, they better not even try, it ends up being half product and very expensive at that. Even the germans dont care about hybrid Touareg, recent AMS comparo of most efficient drivetrains rather picked TDI version of Touareg, but 450h trumped even that.

With 380 HP this seems like it could match the slow selling 10 cylinder diesel variant once offered. Too much power, requiring too much money, and not offering enough fuel economy. A base Toureg costs $40k. For the money, Ill take an RX.

Thanks.....didn't notice that until you pointed it out.
IMO, it's hard to call the interior on that Touraeg "bland"....from the pictures, at least, the trim/detail level is superb. In fact, had the thread (and the steering-wheel hub) not identified it as a VW, I would have guessed it as an Audi...it's that good.
Now Camrys....that is a different matter, especially the current models.
Car sounds good but I've got to be honest - VW's new design language, which I am sure they see as "simplistic and elegant", could not possibly be more bland. I'm talking like...rivaling a 2002 beige Camry LE with cloth interior, bland.
