The Hyundai logo certainly has its issues w/ regard to aesthetics (but so do the Toyota and Nissan logos) - the best of the lot is the Honda H, but still, the Honda logo doesn't compare to the simple, elegant lines of the logos for Acura, Lexus and Infiniti.

i think this is a good marketing strategy.
just when all the other carmakers are pulling out of their top tier projects, hyundai bombards us with a ton of new products.
when the market rebounds in a few years, it will be ready with competitive products, and people will remember these previews we're getting now.

I'm not sure that this is the right way for Hyundai to go. They spent years getting their quality control act together, and they've really got someting to show for it now.
IMO, the company would be better served spending the money on KEEPING that quality control instead of on drag-race engines. We saw what happened at Mercedes when they forgot quality/reliability and started putting tons of money into the AMG performance division. Their cars went from being some of the most reliable cars made to some of the most unreliable.

I don't know I think there is a bigger group of people still wanting to buy cars than some think. My mom is about to buy a SUV, don't ask me why she just likes to be in a bigger vehicle and says she can see better and likes the tailgate instead of a trunk, and was looking at Lexus and BMW but decided to go with the Veracruz.
Also the people who are looking to lower expenses might move into a new Hyundai and not really feel like they're downgrading. The exterior/interior design might not be tier 1 just yet but the quality and reliability is good plus they're getting a 10-year warranty.
January was a good month for Hyundai but I think February will be even better.

of course it's the right way to go.
I'm sure they're doing both- quality and performance.
these days, companies are ambidextrous.

Spot on about the Veracruz's steering feel/ride - very reminiscent of the Camry (definitely going for the "comfort" market).
