u seem to post this about every car mentioned.

for the most part, in the u.s., sticks are only going to be on econoboxes, sports cars, and trucks.

To be honest, it's really not that hard to top the current gen CLK in styling. The only CLK that looks good in my opinion is the Black Series.

That car is beyond busy. I cannot believe the designers designed the rear windows so long, they had to cut the glass!!! What mess. The CL does not have the problem b/c its a huge car.

Interior looks like its from the 1980s.
Agreed, what made previous Mercedes look good was they're simplicity and elegance. The AMG models made things even better with they're brutal power.

I love it. Usually it takes me time to warm up to most MB designs but I like this one right off the bat.

I like it, im sure I will like it a lot more when I see it in person, as was the case with the current Sclass.

Eh, ok...

Come on, drop the bias here and don't make such childish statements. I believe that European manufacturers don't design their engines with the US in mind to start with, Lexus does. Lexus (and other Japanese) manufacturers can focus on building powerful V6 engines for instance that will only be offered in the US where they expect the majority of those sales to be. The few cars with those engines they sell outside of the US won't make a difference.

I'm pretty sure there is going to be a more powerful V6 coming up soon in the form of a CGI variant or perhaps one from the SLK350 or SL350 which both make over 300 horses.

But at the same time, maybe the car doesn't need? Look at the low drag and the weight didn't really increase by that much. I bet that there were a few tweaks here and there that have made the engine more responsive and more efficient. The excellent Mercedes 7 speed transmission should also help the '350 reach its full potential. I wouldn't dismiss this car just yet.

I guess you can tell what I look for in a car. One would think that a sporty coupe like this would me available in a MT.

Personally I don't think the E-class coupe will be classified as a "sporty coupe". In my opinion it is a baby CL thus more of a luxury grand touring coupe.

not really, looking at the people ACTUALLY likely to put down money to buy one. they're generally not interested.

also, you also said this car's not powerful enough. so if you want tons of power and a stick, you want a SPORTS car. and then you'll complain it doesn't get good enough fuel economy.

i dislike it, the side profile is the best thing imo (which isn't that great either).. the front headlights are awful, the tail lights aren't that good looking, i agree it looks too busy
i do like the interior though.. it might grow on me when i see it in person

your right with the lack of power comes a lack of fuel efficiency too. probably the result of a lack of engineering.

Benz doesn't seem to mind paying CAFE fines, I wonder how much they'll mind it when Cali comes down on them.

What's with the ugly secondary quarter glass window. I guess it's an 1/8th glass window?
