*IF* its a TURBO 4 cylinder than OK no problem, but if not, don't see a need at 20k.

I'll believe it when I see a true spy shot of the car, I'm just tired of Toyota just keep talking about releasing a RWD sports coupes but yet keeps on delaying it.

BTW base Genesis coupe starts at 22k for a I4 Turbo car with 100k, 10 year warranty.

I think they wanted to cancel it but Mr. Toyoda is going to push for it. However its like waiting for a V-8 Acura. Don't hold your breath or you will die

Your confused by the sedan vs coupe.

Sedan pricing (MSRP)

$32250 ~ $42K(max loaded)

Coupe pricing (MSRP)

$22,000 ~ $31K(max loaded)

370Z (MSRP)

$29,930 ~ $40,320(max loaded)

So basically, you can get a fully loaded Track model of the Genesis Coupe vs a bare bone 370Z with no sports suspension, uprated tires, brakes. Also, 370Z lacks 2 rear seats and a smaller trunk.

The Genesis Coupe is a LOT larger than the 370Z, longer(15.1 in), wider(.8in), taller(2.7in), and longer wheelbase(11 inches). Interior volume for Genesis Coupe is 88.8 cu. ft, vs 51.6 cu. ft for 370Z.

And yet....

Genesis Coupe

I4 Manual 3,294lb Auto 3362lb
V6 Manual 3389lb Auto 3397lb

370Z

Base Manual 3,232lb Auto 3,269lb
Touring Manual 3,278lb Auto 3,314lb

...the weight comes within ~100 pounds the difference.

Using the highest weight figures for both, Genesis Coupe has 18.6lb/in, while the 370Z has 19.8lb/in.

So who focused more on weight savings? Hyundai.

or Nissan's 370Z is a real sports car with a much stronger reinforced structure which adds considerable weight. Last I heard the GTR weighs 300 lbs more than the 911 Turbo too.

let's see Nissan uses 19" forged wheels, all-aluminum hood, aluminum door panels, aluminum hatch, aluminum front subframe. I'm sure they don't care about weight.

Nissan which has been building GTR's, Z's and earlier Silvias and needs lessons from Hyundai on how to build a sports car.

And a V6 Track Genesis sells for $30,250
compared to a 370Z Sport $33,625

real tough decision the 370Z weighs less comes with more power, rev matching on both the manual and 7spd auto, double wishbone front suspension and attractive styling.

If the Toyota/Subaru sports car is actually a 2012 MY it'll go on sale in 2011. Puts the Genesis in a poor position of competing on both ends.

Post Delayed

Both Toyota and Subaru have officially confirmed that their co-developed sporty compact car project has been put on hold. The two automakers had planned a rear-wheel-drive sporty two-door based on the Subaru Impreza platform that also used Subaru’s boxer engine, but the project has apparently been delayed indefinitely due to the worldwide economic slump.

Toyota gained a small stake in Subaru in 2005 and the joint project had intended to fill gaps in both automakers’ lineups. Toyota has lacked a sporty small car since the demise of the Celica and Subaru has been without a coupe for considerably longer. The small Toyota could have been badged a Scion, too.

Initially, the plan had been for the sporty coupe to be on sale in 2011 or 2012, but it looks like it has been delayed at least a year, if not longer, confirming earlier reports.

The plan for the Subaru to assemble Toyota Camrys in its Lafayette, Indiana, assembly plant remains on schedule, however.

The A86, or A086 will not be produced by Toyota unfortunately. Those seeking "sport" minus the batteries under the seat, mufflers etc. should shop elsewhere..

Even if there's no source cited, it's disappointing news, but for some reason not surprising...

There is so much floating around about this car I don't really take it all as serious. It will get here when it gets here.
