4gs will def come well after the next 5 series.

lexus will need to wait and see what goodies the next 5 will have. then go to the drawing board to upgrade/change a few things before release of 4GS

so i say 2012 2013 earliest.

sales are poor. this is gonna be one long *** cycle. but the 3GS still has some life in it.
put some more aggressive looking bumpers, and it can last till 2012, as long as it looks a little better than it's twin jag xf.

if the SC is any indication, lexus seems to neglect the poor selling models, and drag them out for a long long time.

The 3GS was a slow seller to begin with and with the new E-Class and (from what I've seen, absolutely GORGEOUS) BMW 5er coming out within the next year, it will continue to lose sales. I'll have to agree with dashocker on this one: the GS is nice but not exciting in any way whatsoever. The next one has to handle fantastic and look fantastic. In short, don't let the IS-C and RX designers near it!!!

They really need to get the GS-F down here...take a loss or whatever. They need to have a GS-F to build up thier F portfolio. So far, we have the IS-F...c'mon!

I agree, this would be an important addition to the product line.

I'm not exactly sure if getting on the bandwagon of high-power sedans is what Lexus wants.

The IS-F made much more sense because the point of the IS is to compete with the 3, and for it to fully do so, it needs a superfast version of the car.

For the GS-F to be even remotely taken seriously, it needs to have the power, pomp AND circumstance of the E/CLS63, M5, and RS6 models--which would be a difficult place to go to from square one. The IS-F, in my opinion, is a damn fine first attempt at a sports sedan--and shows the industry and the enthusiast that Lexus isn't always about silky drivetrains and the luxury ride. Though I'm no real expert on the ways of the economy, I don't entirely believe that expanding the F line is the best course of action that Lexus can take right now. If anything, they should be finding a way to squeeze out better figures from the GS450h and really pushing the high-technology envelope as the de-facto "green conscious" manufacturer.

I do fully agree that the GS does needs a push, whether by putting on more aggressive bumpers and living up to its "Grand Sport" name, but as much as I'm an enthusiast looking for performance vehicles, but for what it's worth, it's not time for the GS-F right now.

lexus does not need the F version to sell the GS.

the M5 was never used to sell the regular 5 series. The 5 series was/is just a well balanced car to begin with.

some people have suggested a Sport package for the GS. that would be a good addition in times like this. Sport pkg = aggressive bumpers/wheels. like what Merc does with the AMG appearance pkg.
for those who like mellow, they can take the non-sport.
