The Nissan GT-R supercar is just one year away from entering an FIA sanctioned GT1 competition and Nissan confirmed it today that they are making a race-prepared variant available for sale to teams joining the FIA-GT1 class in 2010. The Nismo-developed race car will be observed earlier, though, since it’s going to enter a non-championship entry in four races this year to evaluate its performance.

Nismo will be working in tandem with Gigawave MotorSport to complete the testing of the car and driver likely to compete this year are Michael Krumm and Darren Turner. The Essex-based Gigawave MOtorSport is a racing team that has competed in the FIA GT Championship since 2007. The parent company of the team, Gigawave, is an official partner of the FIA GT Championship which provides on-board cameras for actual coverage of the competitions. Except for spy shots of a test mule, no other details have been offered for the GT-R. The shots reveal that it comes with a Nismo body kit, GT-style wing, plastic windows, enhanced brakes and tires, and a hood equipped with vents. There are talks that the racecar will run on a naturally-aspirated 4.5-liter VK45DE V8 unit rather than the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 of the production version. The V8 powerplant is the same found in Nissan’s SuperGT racecar. The curb weight of the car is said to be 2,976lbs as against the weight of the production model of 3,792lbs, and it can generate 592hp (442kW) and 506lb-ft (685Nm) of torque. Pricing may reach 65 million Yen ($720,000).
