CR is talking about newer Hondas here, not older ones. Older ones did have some transmission issues. But Honda's top ranking (in this list) is not measured by reliability alone, but reliability combined with CR's test results and their idea of vehicle competence. Subaru ranks a close second.....and Subaru is the only manufactuer where every model they sell in the American market is on their recommended list. The Honda Element and new Fit did not make CR's recommended list......the Element because it it is reliable, but scored too low in CR's tests, and the all-new 2009 Fit because it has not been on the market long enough to have a reliability record, despite scoring well in CR's tests.

Take these CR rankings for what they are worth, just a guideline for reliability and quality based on significant sampling.
The best data they provide on reliability is seen on specific model basis in their publications.

If you believe Ford's quality control/reliability are anywhere near that of Honda/Acura I'm sure I'll be in receipt of that information very soon.
