Smile Honda/Acura Tops In Consumer Reports Quality Report Card Yet Again

Coming in at a score of 78 (a combination of vehicles' test scores and reliability ratings). The rest of the manufacturers came in as follows:
Subaru 75
Toyota 74
Mazda 73
Mercedes Benz 72
Nissan 72
Volkswagon 72
BMW 72
Hyundai 70
Volvo 65
Mitsubishi 64
Ford 63
Suzuki 60
GM 57
Chrysler 48

For pure reliability Acura gets nosed out only by Scion. The list:
Scion
Acura
Honda
Toyota (boy, their asses must be chapped)
Lexus (See Toyota)
Infiniti
Subaru
Hyundai
Mitsubishi
Kia
Lincoln
Mazda
Mini (well, at least they beat their parent, BMW)
Nissan
Mercury
Volvo
Ford
Buick
Porsche
BMW (trailing Buick...Oh, how the mighty have fallen)
Suzuki
Audi (ouch...below Suzuki...lol)
Saab
Chevrolet
Volkswagon
GMC
Mercedes Benz (yup....just can't get the reliability thing)
Jeep (thought it would have been even lower)
Pontiac
Dodge
Cadillac (a bit of a surprise here...would have thought
they'd be higher)
Chrysler
Saturn (wow...this used to be OK)
Land Rover (what an unmitigated POS)

CR is talking about newer Hondas here, not older ones. Older ones did have some transmission issues. But Honda's top ranking (in this list) is not measured by reliability alone, but reliability combined with CR's test results and their idea of vehicle competence. Subaru ranks a close second.....and Subaru is the only manufactuer where every model they sell in the American market is on their recommended list. The Honda Element and new Fit did not make CR's recommended list......the Element because it it is reliable, but scored too low in CR's tests, and the all-new 2009 Fit because it has not been on the market long enough to have a reliability record, despite scoring well in CR's tests.

Take these CR rankings for what they are worth, just a guideline for reliability and quality based on significant sampling.

The best data they provide on reliability is seen on specific model basis in their publications.

Im sorry, quality and build quality do not equal reliability.

I can get you a really great deal on a bridge in Brooklyn. Just send me your social security number, bank account information, date of birth and anything else you can possibly think of. Don't worry, you're in safe hands. Your indentity's safety is my top priority (hey, I don't want anyone else ripping it off from me...lol).

If you believe Ford's quality control/reliability are anywhere near that of Honda/Acura I'm sure I'll be in receipt of that information very soon.

I love my wifes TL, but she had to have engine mounts replaced on her car at less than 55k miles and the service quality and attention to detail sucks

ecr527 obviously doesn't believe Ford's quality is on par with Toyota. He is being sarcastic. It's quite
difficult to believe that you thought he was serious!!
