996 turbo or 997 s
this whole time ive been looking at boxster s, i said to myself if im going to spend a lot of money on a car, i might as well go all out. so im looking at those two at this time. preferably im looking for a 996 turbo coupe or cabriolet or 997 s coupe only. i dont like how the 997 cab looks. so here's what up with the two cars that i plan to check out tomorrow:
2003 Porsche 911 Turbo - $48,800
Mileage: 35,000 Body Style: Coupe Exterior Color: Gray Interior Color: Black
2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S - $49,995
Mileage 31,658
Body Style Coupe
Exterior Color Silver
Interior Color Black
carfax is clean for both cars.

on looks i FAR prefer the 997s over the 996 turbo. and 996 turbo is INSANELY fast, basically ridiculous on public roads. over 100 in 3rd is EASY. 997s is PLENTY powerful enough!

I've not driven a 996 Turbo, but I do have a lot of seat time in n/a 996s and the 997S. i much prefer the 997. The body structure feels more solid and both the interior and exterior are much better looking, IMHO. I'm sure the Turbo is wickedly fast, but it also far more complex with the tightly packaged turbo engine and AWD setup.
Good luck in your search. The bottom line is get what puts the biggest smile on your face.

I've driven both pretty extensively. The 997 drives better, but the 996tt will smoke it. It's addicting - you see an opening in traffic, and you know you'll make it no problem.
I'd take the 996tt, but at a better price than the one you listed. And yes, a warranty is mandatory. My friend has a 996tt with about 35k miles, and in the last couple years the aftermarket warranty has saved him about $10k.
