I might have to get myself a camaro in the near future with the prices being like that. I don't care too much about the handling as long as it doesn't handle like my truck. :P. Upgrade the suspension and I'm set. .

None of their specs say anything about 29 MPG Hwy. However, I do like that the SS model with a 6MT is more efficient than the less powerful automatic variant.

Even lower end products like the IS and GS have nearly flawless paint, application, and luster...a lot moreso than our Corvette which, FWIW, is always garaged under a car cover.
Correct. The Corvette, without question, has one of the best paint jobs of any GM car....a few Cadillacs come close. It's close to, but not quite, Lexus-level. However, keep in mind that good-quality body and paint work on fiberglass Corvette panels can be quite expensive.

This is an exciting car for GM. Styled like a Challenger or a Mustang but I read somewhere they were going for the handling characteristics of an M3. If there's a car that will shatter the preconceptions of American handling and performance, it will be this one. GM has done a very good job of keeping the lower model V6 version of the new Camaro desirable too, unlike the poor V6 Mustang which is the model no dignified car nut would ever have.

Yes, the V6 in the Mustang is pretty sad. 4.0 L, 210 hp and 240 ft lb. I wonder if they'll ever replace it with a modern V6?

Maybe so, but I'll believe it when I see it. The M3 has a very sophisticated chassis/suspension, using expensive, high-quality parts with a high strength-to-weight component. New M3's run 60-70K and up. I don't see how GM can do that kind of engineering for the price range that most new Camaros are going to run.....less than half of that. (Unless, of course, there's something we don't know yet about the bailout money)

As for performance, anybody can make a car do a quick 0-60 or 1/4 mile, particularly with AWD, where torque steer isn't involved. All it takes, of course, is plenty of low-RPM torque (Dodge Viper style) and drivetrain parts that can take the strain. But that's a lot easier to do than an M3-type suspension.

It does look good, but outselling rival Mustang? That, to my knowledge, hasn't happened in over 40 years, going back to the first Camaros in 1967 (minus the last few years the Camaro was out of production, of course).

The Mustang, like it or not, is an American institution.

I always rent the pathetic V6 Mustang convertible on my vacations in Hawaii and it is an absolute lump of crap. Its very obvius that its a truck motor dropped into a convertible. The car jumps off the line but will lose its steam at a miserable 4000 rpm.

I used to love seeing guys in these pieces of crap that try to run with G35's. I used to wave from the sunroof as I pulled

I will admit that the V6 mustang is cool for drifting in sugar cane fields. I spun the rental in the mud to the point that mud came over the side of the car and into the interior. It was great. I love rental cars and I always get the insurance
