Toyota ranks as top brand in Japan; Honda is 2nd

TOKYO -- Toyota is the best brand name in Japan, beating heavyweight household names such as Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic, according to a new marketing survey.
The nation's other automakers fared well, too. Honda, Lexus and Nissan made the top 10 in a list of Japan's best brands compiled by the consulting firm Interbrand Corp.
The ranking, released last month, sizes up Japan's 30 best companies based on brand value in monetary terms. Toyota topped the list with a brand value of $31.57 billion.
Honda was No. 2 at $17.67 billion. Lexus, Toyota's luxury brand, edged Nissan for seventh place with a value of $3.23 billion. Nissan was No. 8 at $2.90 billion.
Also making the top 10 were Sony, Canon, Nintendo, Panasonic, Toshiba and Sharp.

Its b/c Lexus brand and figures are so strong it is a separate entity here. Amazing to see little Lexus bigger than Nissan. Infiniti probably is wroth a box of chocolates
