Default Can you guess?

True story:

I was at a dealership for a test drive of a new model over the weekend. This is a higher end foriegn car dealership. After the drive we sat down to discuss the price or so I thought. After going over the options I wanted, I was told by the salesman that he needed to go over it with his sales manager.

5 minutes later he came back and started to write down some more information.

10 minutes later he comes back with someone (his sales manager I learned) and the manager basically tells me that since I am not commited to the car they are not going to provide a price. I had been sitting for a good 15 minutes at this point. I left a little perplexed, but went to see other dealerships

Subsequent communcations basically said that I should commit to the car before knowing the price (i.e. commit to our product before knowing how much it's going to cost you). Weird right?

Anyways, can you guess what brand I am talking about?

That's odd.

Unless if demand exceeds supply (which would be rare in the current state of the economy), a dealership has little advantage to do such a thing.

Sounds like a stunt that a Lexus dealer would pull...

Was that a BMW dealer? Something like that happened to a friend of mine at one.

I'll go with BMW . . Don't know why but just feels like they would pull something like that.

Judging by the overinflated ego Audi has with their recent commercials, I would guess it's an Audi dealership and that you were looking an R8

I don't know why but I want to say Audi. What a great effort on the dealership's part to alienate their (potential) customers. Idiots....

Well shoot, I was half right . IMO they have become really pretentious, and that method of sales is very poor, especially at this time. They should have respectfully told you the price, and then worked something out with you. It's an Audi....not a Ferrari.

How can you commit to a car without knowing its price? The line "If you have to ask then you can't afford it" does not apply to Audi.
