There all nice sedans, but like the article said, the BMW and Audi are long in the tooth and due for redesigns in the coming year. I'd like to see the comparison of the successors vs the MB. My choice outta the current three though, would be the Audi.

The new E Class really seems fantastic ![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
To the person above that said it did not move significantly beyond the A6 and 5, did you read the review? The car was the best handling, riding and steering and has a handsome new exterior and great features. It also has what looks to me as a top notch interior and every early review has agreed with that notion.
Stand out driving characteristics and high quality and attention to detail are timeless elements of any car. We will have to see what its competitors bring to the table but it certainly seems that the new E has drawn a line in the sand that the other two fell well short of. Only thing is...at what price?

I don't understand why some people here expect the E class to drive like the BMW 5 series. The E class has always been about a harmony between handling and comfort and has generally always struck the right balance between these two ideals. On the other hand the 5er has generally been the handling king but always second or even third fiddle when it came to comfort.
Mercedes knows what formula sells their E class and they're sticking to it. The same is true for Audi, BMW, Lexus and so forth.
That said, I've been seeing a few new E classes here in Stuttgart and they look fantastic. Most German reviews also speak highly of it, especially the balance between comfort and sport. The steering feedback has been praised as it is now more direct, yet still suitable for relaxed and smooth driving.

I would really like to see a Genesis V-8 tested against these cars. It is the largest inside by a good margin and faster than either the Mercedes or BMW. From my comparison drive where Hyundai provided an E550 to drive against the Genesis V-8, the ride and handling would also be close. All at a price almost $20,000 cheaper.
