I have seen the XF numerous times on the road already, while it does look sharp and different, it did not wowed me nearly as much as I expected to, and without the logo, it's no longer recognizable as a Jag.

anything 05 and up seems to be doing very well. i haven't seen anywhere near the problems of the older cars. as a tech who currently works for a jag dealer and used to work at a german dealer, i would buy one over a german car if i'm after reliability.
well, here's what i know so far. the current v8 is a 4.2l, but that's going away this year. they are all going to 5.0 v8's. there will be the standard v8 with over 400hp and then a supercharged 5.0 with over 500hp for the R models. the new engine will have variable valve and cam timing, direct injection, etc. which makes it as modern as possible.
Hmmm...
I know Aston and Jag are no longer under one umbrella, but this looks like a nod to the AM Rapide (like how the XK is a nod to the Vantage). Swoopy body lines, pinched headlights and taillights; but with a "normal" trunk instead of a hatchback.
Perhaps along the standard V8, there will be a XJ-R V12?

That's a shame I like the current one.
This one here ^, sure. Looks alright I guess.
This one down here on the other hand ... looks like a Chrysler 300C, too tall & bulky in the body.

That top picture has a lot of Maserati in it which is not a bad thing but would dilute the brand a bit. The bottom one is very aggressive. Not sure I like it right away but I could definitely see it growing on me.

I definitely like the direction that Jaguar is going. Keep its historical curves and lines while finally modernizing it's fleet. These renderings look quite intriguing.

Not sure if you guys saw that video, but it states "New Ultra Efficient V6 and V8 engines"
This is an interesting move, IMO.
The lower XF is only available with a V8, yet the flagship XJ will get a V6? I am thinking they must be planning to drop the base 4.2L V8 XF in favor of a new V6, then adding the new 5.0L unit to replace the 420hp supercharged version, creating a V6, 5.0L V8, and then the XFR.
Not sure how I feel about a V6 flagship Jaguar, but they have done it in the past so who knows?
EDIT: LLN says the V6 is referring to a twin turbo diesel that Europe will get.

+1 After working with the Jaguar VIP fashion fleet & Mike O'Driscol (fantastic guy) for a couple years I bought my own XJR with 101,000 miles drove it 3 years 40,000 miles no issues but starting to show wear. replaced with IS350 for the MPG. Test drove a 2005 XJR it drives much better than mine did mostly due to the alloy body & frame. I consider these cars as reliable as any in this class except Lexus

My daughters said it looked like an old mans car so I replied, "I am an old man ya damn teeny-boppers!"
