I remember seeing a feature on this vehicle on motor week, and they definetly did not like the pooe gas mileage. They said it was a Lexus through and through and could really do some serious offroading, but got horrible mpg

mpg was maintained even with an increase in displacement and power. The 470 engine was old an inefficient

They make the tundra with the 4.7 and 5.7, everyone pretty much gets the 5.7 since the mileage is the same but with greater power. Even the V6 Tundra makes less mpg than the 5.7 tundra, too small of an engine

I compared:

200 series 4.7 vvti litre 5/speed Land Cruiser from Australia with 3.90.1 rear end ...combined rating litres per 100km is 14.5 as reported by Toyota

The USA 5.7 6/speed LX570 has the same rear end of 3.90.1 and also has the exact same combined rating of 14.5 litre per 100 km.

It gets the same MPG because the 4.7 is better rated in the city while the 5.7 is better rated on the highway...combined they are the same.

You really can't compare the outgoing 470 because the 470 used a 4.10.1 rear end and had one less transmission gear

Pagemaster,

Give me a break. The new 5.7 is rated at 12/18 on the LX 570. The LX 470 was rated at 12/17. If a 1MPG increase in highway mileage isn't impressive when the engine gained 110HP then I just don't know what to tell you.

When I drove an LX 470 real world mileage was around 14MPG combined...the last Tundra Crew Max 4X4 I drove averaged 18MPG. The Tundra does weigh 200lbs less than the LX 470 or 570, but still a 4MPG difference in real world driving is quite significant.

Seems that you're grasping for straws here.

not to mention the lx570 is based on the new EPA ratings, which is more conservative than the old ratings. so even at the same gas mileage the new engine has noticeable better fuel economy already

Just to note, Lexus has trademarked GX 460 since 2007:

If Toyota were like GM we'd have a FWD 4.6L Avalon. Tee hee.

.
Give you a break? Why? The LX470 was rated at 13/17 mpg. The LX570 is rated at 12/18 mpg. Combined they shoud be very close to being the same. I never said that a 110hp was not a great achievment...but getting better mileage is not true. The 4.7 and the 5.7 get the same. Toyota has done a good job at making it look like the 5.7 get better mileage.

Combined ratings are as follows.

The LC 200 4.7/5speed in Australia is rated 14.5 litres/100km compared to the LX570 which gets 14.5 litres/100km.

Canada rates the Sequoia 4.7 at 14.4 litres/100 km while the 5.7 Sequioa is rated at 14.0 litres/100km

Canada rates the Tundra 4.7 4wd 14.2 litres/100km while the Tundra 4wd is rated at 14.4 litres/100 km.

It seems to me that that the 4.7 and 5.7 get about the same mileage. The 4.7 is more efficient in the city while the 5.7 is more efficient on the hwy.
