You were given 20k from the govt to buy one American branded vehicle. What do u buy?

If the car is less than $20K, do you just pocket the rest?
As nice as this might be, remember it's not the government "giving" us the money as they don't produce any money - they only confiscate it from us.
So that $20K given to us would originate from us in the first place but mostly redistributed from those that work hard and succeed in life.
But anyway...
Some possible choices would be:
Camaro
Fusion Hybrid
and if I could pocket leftover cash...
2011 Cruze does indeed look good
2011 Fiesta is suppose to arrive and it's a great compact as well

For additional $$, the Challenger SRT8 (yeah, I know it's heavy and the Camaro and 'Stang are better in many respects, but for pure cruising, the Challenger's aesthetics can't be beat).
For just the $20k, the (European) Fiesta or Focus (depending on what the US pricing ends up) when they make it here.

The RWD muscle and pony cars that a number of you have mentioned would of course, be a temptation, but, in most cases, for a number of reasons, they are unsuitable for slippery roads. I'd probably add a few $$$ out of my own pocket to the 20K and go with a FWD Chevy Malibu, Saturn Aura, or Fusion/Milan AWD. I like the way the Buick LaCrosse and Lucerne ride, but their interiors, though plush-looking, fake-wood-tone on the surface, use some cheap materials underneath. Cadillacs and Lincolns, for the most part, IMO, are not worth what they cost....though a couple of Lincoln sedans have a nice AWD option.
You aren't necessarily giving up reliability with an American-badged vehicle, either....if you buy the right one. The choices I listed for myself above (Malibu, Aura, Fusion/Milan) are all above average in reliability, especially in FWD trim. The Fusion and its two brothers approach Toyota/Honda reliability levels. Buicks are also mostly above average in reliability, with the Enclave being the exception.

You could get a Volt, but you'd probably have to cough up quite a few $$$ of your own, in addition to the Government money. I don't see how Chevy can price the Volt anywhere near 20K.....the technology (particularly the ultra-efficient batteries) is too expensive. Even it they charge 30K for it, my guess is that Chevy would still lose money on it, although the dealers might make a killing with mark-ups and price gouging, like Toyota shops did last year on the Prius with gas at $4.00 a gallon.

Dodge Challenger R/T. Even though it's slightly slower than a Mustang GT and Camaro SS; it's LARGE, WIDE, has badass GRUNT,better interior, and definately looks muscular than the other two. It's also a better cruiser the others mentioned.
Cadillac CTS. It's faster than IS,3, Class
Chevy Colbalt SS Sedan. 'Ring tested. Faster than it's competitors.sleeper. TURBO!!!
