Just announced by Toyota Motor Corp USA. The 2010 Toyota Sequioa will recieve an average price increase of a whopping $3,361
Correct me if I am wrong. But this kind of increase is unheard of.
A 2010 Platinum model will now MSRP for $58,905
A 4x4 SR5 will increase $4,280
This price increase must reflect the cost difference of the new 4.6/6speed compared to the ancient 4.7/5speed.

Toyota introduced the Sequoia back in 2001 because sales of Toyota's large sized SUV's were roughly 30k combined units of LX470/Land Cruiser in the peak years of 1998-2000. With the Sequoia, Toyota figured it could sell 60k units for a lower price but a higher profit margin than the could LX470/Land Cruisers. The Sequoia was part of the boom of suvs in the early 00's which saw Expeditions, Escalade EXTs, Avalanches, Aramadas etc.
The Sequoia was very successful in 2001 selling at 60k units.

I think the large price increase is Toyota's way of passing on the cost of the new 4.6/speed. The 4.6 models recieve the highest increase in some cases up to 12.5%

Highlander (25k+) is cheaper than 4Runner (28k+) for sure... others look ok...
