CAR magazine called the X1, the X6 and Cayenne diesel the Anti-Cars of the year in a recent issue lol. Looks just like a Hyundai. A shame they insist on buiding these things instead of investing in more "M" sports cars.

Looks like a Nissan Vogue, maybe BMW should bring Chris Bangle back, the recent X6 and now this X1 looks like crap. Although I do like the look of the new 7 series and the 3 series coupe.

So what are the BMW SUVs competing with size wise now?

I'd have to guess you would be in very slim company with that opinion of Chris Bangle. 3 Coupe is ugly IMO but the 7 is growing on me, albeit slowly.

That 7 in the pic looks like a clown car or something though with things falling out of every opening... haha

BMW has now 4 SUVs (sorry I mean SAVs ) in their lineup; so much for the ultimate driving machine.

3 Savs, 1 SAC (sport activity coupe, yes that's what BMW coined it).

I don't blame BMW to be honest because SUVs/cross overs sell but I think some of the vehicles are utterly pointless, namely the X6. The X1 is going to position itself in the previous X3 position, the next X3 grows larger to compete with the likes of the RX and the X5 is going to be a big grand-daddy competing with the GX/LX/Escalade. Correct me if I'm wrong dashocker, I know we had this convo before.

Especially since it's smaller than the other premium small SUV's (GLK, Q5).

I guess it's a bit like 1 series supplementing 3 series...

Really? I thought it would replace the X3 and the X1 was just a concept name. IMO it looks no smaller than the current X3. I'm guessing this X1 will have a more car-like stance? Like the Venza, Matrix, HHR etc?

This design is not that bad. The huge grill seems more at home on this SUV than the new 7 and Z4.

Yeh, but how many coupes do they have? How many convertibles? How many engine options? How many dedicated high performance ///M cars?

Props to BMW for giving people the choice. I may not like the X3 or X1, but some people find these cars perfect for their needs, and spend their money on them.

Spy photos of the new X3 are out there already, expected to compete with the GLK. X1 looks smaller than upcoming X3.
