yes, but here's the deal. if the manufacturers don't help dealers get cars off lots with incentives, they will have NO DEALERS. i don't know how many infiniti dealers there are, but i'd bet NOT MANY to begin with. lexus frankly has a similar problem, but a better selling brand to begin with.

i just saw a tv ad from lexus of orlando extolling the virtues of the LS460 (certainly justified) but ending with "$8000 cash back right now"

Looking specifically at the Cadillac CTS, this is from Edmunds, but why the huge cash towards lease on the CTS when compared to purchase?

I agree that the 5 series sales are amazing. They dominate an otherwise struggling segment of the market.

Another one that really stood out was the SL class from Benz. To drop only 3.1% for a car that costs well north of $100K is pretty shocking. Just goes to prove that there are still plenty of people making money during the recession.

Ironic that the GLK leads your "Cute useless ute" category. We test drove it and found it to be an utter joke for a Benz (although we felt the same way about the C300 when we drove it as well). I'd suggest that there are enough people out there that are just looking to drive any Benz that they either don't care or don't know any better. Badge ***** mentality.

I find your "Mid Size Luxury SUV" category to contain too many vehicles. I'd suggest that maybe the X5, ML, XC90, Q7 and GX at least should be in a "Full Size" category. They are so dramatically different in size and price from the other entrants that you list.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler LLC today reported April U.S. total sales of 76,682 units, representing a 48 percent decrease versus 2008. Total April sales include a fleet reduction of 66 percent year-over-year for the same period, as the Company continues to emphasize retail over fleet.

"The industry appears to have stabilized, as it's been fairly level for the past four months," said Jim Press, Vice Chairman and President, Chrysler LLC. "We know where the bottom is, and as the economy struggles to recover, vehicle sales should follow."

"Chrysler retail sales and share were well above expectations, which shows the real strength of our dealers and products in the marketplace in spite of a month filled with troubling headlines," said Press.

Press added, "This gives us reason for optimism as we begin working on our new alliance and restructuring plans."

April Sales Highlights

Jeep Wrangler continued its strong, upward sales trend, with April sales up seven percent (9,336 units) year-over-year compared to April 2008
Sales of the 2009 Dodge Challenger were up 11 percent (2,619 units) in April compared to March
Retail sales of the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country increased six percent in April compared to March
The all-new 2009 Dodge Ram truck continues to capture the attention of consumers and increase its market share; sales of the all-new 2009 Dodge Ram Quad Cab model increased 26 percent compared to March 2009

The Company finished the month with 336,913 units representing a 114 day supply. Inventory is down 20 percent compared with April 2008, when it totalled 422,353 units.

"By adding GMAC as our preferred lender for Chrysler dealer and consumer business, the foundation is being laid for a stronger, reborn car company," said Steven Landry, Executive Vice President, North American Sales and Marketing, Global Service and Parts - Chrysler LLC. "As a bank holding company with access to a variety of funding sources, GMAC offers the best long-term finance options for Chrysler dealers and customers."

May Incentives

Chrysler LLC will extend through May 4 the Employee Pricing Plus Plus program, which offers the employee price to all customers purchasing or leasing new 2009 Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicles. Customers may also qualify for 0 percent financing for up to 48 months through Chase bank. In addition to the employee price, customers are eligible for cash discounts of up to $3,500 on 2009 model year vehicles. Also, there are great deals on any 2008 models in stock.

Always amusing how ChryCo tries to spin their impending demise.

I still find it utterly shocking that your government is burdening your tax paying citizens with a company that is such a complete fail.

+1 Agreed!

Best site, bar none, for open, multi-brand discussions with minimal flaming.

Interesting. Up here, while gas prices have risen slightly....diesel prices have remained fairly stable. Today for example Premium gas is $1.039 per liter ($4.156 per gallon ) while Premium Diesel is only $0.769 per liter ($3.076 per gallon).

Just saying....there's advantages to both technologies.

^^^ Thanks for the feedback. Some of the classes/cars are harder to designate than others.

Oh the Acura TSX has had a $299 lease deal for sometime now

In Europe, they have been doing it for years.

And even in Canada, your own country, the government dumps huge amounts of money into rather inefficient systems too, like the Canadian health-care system (not that our own health-care system, of course, is that much more efficient either).

^^ I find the Canadian Health Care system to be pretty tidy, not to take this off topic.

CDNROCK, the GLK is the newest Cute ute out. The X3 is old, the RDX never met sales goals and the EX did even worst, its a complete faillure. So the GLK sales look impressive on paper but really, its only fighting the Q5 right now. The volvo is non-existent.

pretty tidy if you don't mind people dying or suffering while waiting for care.
