KUDOS to Honda of America!-Free Repaint on my car!
Oh yeah, so Like the title says, The Civic is getting repainted. They are using Dupont paint, at an independant shop, and Honda is also paying to have the ding removed from my door. I just asked them to, and they agreed. But hey, cool with me!
The color will be the same, and the reason for the repaint is Premature clearcoat failure. Basically, there were "crows feet" in the paint and it is a common problem, as seen here:

^my hood is doing the same thing, except its gray.
Thank GOD for small favors, all I had to do was get an estimate. it goes in for paint monday the 18th of may, and should come out that friday.

40,200 miles and rapidly going up...so not exactly low. and its a 2006. I had it in for service and they actually pointed it out to me! I knew about it already, but thought it was too late to get it fixed. apparently there is no mileage limit, only a 10 year time limit on this particular defect.
there is a 10/250,000 on corrosion.
Here are a few pix, where you can kinda see the defect:

All paints became softer and more prone to chip in the recent couple of years, because the effin tree huggers and the government passes some sort of law requiring paint manufacturers to get rid of certain components in the paint that are "harmful to the environment"

exatly^. Honda had to reformulate their paint in 2005, hence the poor paint on the vehicles after the redesign.
but meh, its not an issue for me anymore. But you guys that have hondas should take yours to the dealer if your mileage is reasonable, especially if you having the crows-feet problem.
