If you look at this pic of the ISc below long enough it morphs into an LF-A.. Perhaps this has been the plan by Lexus all along

if its only going to last three years, then this was a complete waste of money from a logical perspective. Why dump so much r&d into the car (well i guess they really didnt) and make a new production line for this car? i wonder what they are planning

i bet the front end of the IS-c can be swapped with the 3IS.

i doubt lexus will do anything more than a slight styling evolution for the next gen IS.

Lets look at Audi here. I don't know why, but for years, they made the 4 door A4, then made a 4 door A4 convertible (softop) and NEVER made a 2 door coupe.

It was only until they made the A5 on the new platform did they decide to have a sedan/coupe/convertible. You can call it the A5, but its basically an A4 coupe.

I am starting to believe the IS-C was truly never in the product line and the IS was meant to be sedan only. The IS-F and ISc bullied their ways into the product. Looking at the styling of the latter cars, they are nowhere near as cohesive as the IS.

For awhile the rumor was the ISc was taking so long b/c they were trying to make a trick convert/targa roof like the LF-C concept but clearly that was hogwash.

I expect the next gen ISc to be a part of the design from day one, unlike this one and really replace the SC 430...

I expect the SC 460/500 (whatever) to elevate itself next go round.

Maybe you were too young to remember but Audi has the 80/90 coupes back in the mid 80's.

when you block the front bumper with a sign, it looks alright at this angle.

what it needs is a curvier front end. it's too chiseled

Don't forget about dimming the lights. Ugly girls can be pretty too if it's dark enough and it's face is covered I suppose...

Ok somebody mentioned Lexus making a SC500, they should make that and the IS-C. SC500 could compete against the 6 series BMW and if they make the SC500 powerful enough the Lexus could go up against the M6. As for the IS-C its a 335i coupe fighter all they did was lose 2 doors from the IS350 drop the same engine. The IS250 is a 328i fighter. 328i gets to 60 6.4 but the IS250 does it somewhere in the 7-8 second range. The IS-250 and IS250-C would be a great coupe if it was faster at least 240-260 horsepower its really down on the power so that would help. Looks are very nice to me for the normal IS sedan but as someone members said the trunk is to long and looks like a Solara i used to own. IS-F was NOT a afterthought it is an amazing fast car that someone said was "bullied" into the lineup.

did lexus do the marketing research?

this would've been nice. priced $1000 more than sedan, it would add at least 1000 to IS monthly sales.

the convertible will be a sales flop. trust me.

^^^ That would have been pretty nice to have, with a little more tweaking and a MANUAL transmission... haha

Exactly, and coilovers and 19" wheels too would help maybe.

Look at that out of proportion roofline with all those ugly cutlines.

even with the front blocked, the car still looks very bunch problematic. the rear is actually my biggest complaint. either way, having this car out 3 yrs after the IS sedan it's just beyond weird (and late)

It would have been 3 years after if it were available for sale last fall
But it's still not in the showroom now ...

I am concerned that Lexus may have created another SC when designing the new ISc. I mean they have created a car that doesnt look as good as its competitors like the 3 series convertible, and will sell like **** because its price
