The Ls is not much better you can get a used one for dirt cheep, out of the full size luxury car the S class holds its price best.

I sold my '02 745i and my '07 750li, and have not looked back sence. I sold the 745 w/ 50K miles on the clock, and the 750 w/ about 9K. The warranty was nice on both the cars, but I couldn't emagine owning either after the warranty expired.

The reliability of the 7 series turned me off from BMW, so I went back to Mercedes.

the 7 series and the S class are top notch in my book, but for total luxury the benz will win every time in my book. Its a benz. The bimmer will win for handling , etc, but in this class of vehicles outright handling is probably on the bottom of the list of important characterisitics for its potential consumers

I guess there is. The new design is growing on me though and I really like the interior color.

I did not know ...
we have an 08 750li, with the rear entertainment package. if we put a dvd in, we can watch the dvd, or we can change settings and radio stations, etc. It's basically another idrive in the back (but the front one can limit what the back one does)

while having a big luxury car be really 'sporty' or even track worthy isn't that important, handling COMPETENCE is VERY important. about the least luxurious thing i can think of is major body roll. so if a car has an unsophisticated suspension if you want a soft normal ride you're likely to have body roll.

what benz does IMO better than anyone, is their active suspension. they've been at it a LONG time, and it's incredible. so even driving it calmly and normally, when you go around corners the car stays FLAT. this helps those back seat occupants not spill their tea and sandwich with grey poupon.

Thanks! I actually just got them, they are 20" oem wheels made by BBS. I totally agree, the deep dish look is so played out.
