Default I dont often feel bad for Neon owners...but...

This poor lady was a dead stop waiting to turn, minding her own business when a black silverado (DRIVER TEXTING ON PHONE) smacked her at 40+ mph. Nobody deserves that...especially due to stupidity. I can understand if it was a legitimate accident, but this guy didnt even hit his brakes. He pushed her car about 40 feet. I saw it all happen from the stop sign exiting my neighborhood.

Everyone was OK, for crumple zones.

the biggest upset is that she now has to spend thousands to buy a new car.

if i were rear ended by a texter, i'd love to beat the crap out of him.
and then sue him and his insurance for all they've got.

Glad no one had life threatening injuries. Sucks that she was nailed for someone doing something illegal.

Whiplash is going to be a pain in the *** for her...

I swear I now hear about more accidents caused by texting than drunk driving.

It's utter stupidity. Do they realize how long their eyes and focus is taken off the road? They might as well be typing their thesis on their laptops while driving.

Then you have people such as train operators texting and crashing trains...

25 killed, 130 injured...

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/19/us/19crash.html

49 injured....

why can't stupid people leave a voice mail?

it's not good to yap on the phone while driving. but at least it's better than texting.

these idiots are looking at their knees while driving.

if victim has whiplash, i hope she wins a good settlement and a nice car.

i always pull over if i have to use my phone.... whether to call someone, or use the gps

Believe it or not, texting while driving is NOT illegal in many states, thus if you rear ended somebody while texting it's no worse of a charge from the state than just rear ending them for any other innocent/accidental reason.

Granted, that is thankfully on its way to changing in many states, including here in in TN.

Yeah... try beating the crap out of somebody after an accident and see who sues who in court.

Are you sure the Silverado was going 40+ MPH? I find that hard to believe. The Silverado is a full-size truck, probably weighing twice what a Neon does. A rear-end impact on a small unibody car like a Neon, at that speed, would probably do a lot more damage than that. Police Ford Cown Vics, which are far larger than Neons and weigh a lot more (and have full ladder-frames), have been known to explode from ruptured fuel tanks when parked on the shoulder and hit at those speeds.

fuel tank isnt in the rear on a neon, and the speed limit on that road is 35, he was doing at least 5 over by my judgement (remember my job, I am pretty good at judging speed/distance).
