If the government says "you must own a 4 cylinder" what would you buy?

After having nightmares last night about the possibility of this becoming reality. I awoke this morning realizing that Porsche would redesign thier DI engine with 4 cyl. & simular displacement. The resulting torque gain is what I want now so it's all good, I change my answer to Boxster

I like some people act like a 4 cylinder = slowness. LOL.
More likely than government mandating number of cylinders would displacement size. Or associated costs with having greater displacement. BMW had a 3.0L V8. I wouldn't be opposed to driving one. Smoothness, efficiency, I got to believe that with all the changes in technology over the last 20 years a 3.0L V8 would be pretty sweet.

**** give me an Mini Cooper but swap the engine out for a BMW S 1000 RR and all is swell
193 hp Mini with like a 10,000 rpm engine what is not to love HAHAHA.. redo the body work with carbon-fiber... just turned a $40k car into like $100k+ car booyah!
have the weight be under 2000 pounds... could run the quarter mile under 12.6 seconds

GSteg is always right....
but you don't get the picture....
The S2000 needs to be driven hard to get the power you need. Put it in lower gear to put the car in the powerband.
And with its superb handling it can walk all over the high hp cars like Pontiac GTO, or Mustang GT, etc in the turns or twisties.

The car does move but you really have to wind it up, and if you have to really wind it up every time you want to pass or get up even a slight grade, it gets old after a while. Or, maybe I'm just getting cranky in my old age.
Give me low end torque over high rpm hp any day.

Yea that's it

I wouldn't buy an S2000 as my only car. It's not mean to be driven around the city all day long. If I had one, it's going to be my track car where the engine only lives to see 6000 RPM+
