nope, I'll explain. AMG is a performance division of Mercedes like M for BMW S and RS from audi and F for lexus. AMG takes the basic car and sretches is it, reinforces the car add's bigger breaks and stiffins up the suspension and final peace of the puzzle is the engine. Mercedes has been going the N/A route high reving big displacement V8 which is a diffrent route from the previous engines which were low reving supercharged torque monstets (some exceptions 3.6 na from the c36 4.3 na from the c43 a 3.2 s/c from the c32 slk and chrysler crossfire srt-6, they also had a 5.4l v8 na that went into the c55 the w210 e55 the w208 clk and the w209 clk, but for the most part in the rest of the amg line up the supercharged v8 dominated and still does with the help of tunner's. With all theese modifications mercedes styled the amg's diffrent to make them look as good as they go. a lot of people fell inlove with styling of the car but had no need for the extra power. thats why mercedes started offering apearence packages to cars which made them look like 90% amg. of course they still kept theyre old names and owners just slapped on amg badges to look cool

I'm not one for posing, but in all honesty, the fact that it still says CLS-500 means the owner is not trying to hide anything.
Everyone knows that 500 or 550 are the base engines and 55 or 63 are the hi-po versions.
I could care less about a AMG badge, but for some people, its make or break!

Ditto for mbworld. Highly entertaining threads...lol.
While I agree with you that they are beautiful to look at they are highly disappointing to drive. (excluding the CLS 63 AMG...I'm guessing).
I took out a CLS a few months ago with the full intention of buying it that day (unbeknownst to my wife...lol). My whole world was shattered when it was revealed that one of my dream cars drove like a boat.
