A 33-year-old Kansas man, who was told to turn down the music in his car, drove it through the glass doors of Wichita’s City Hall building.
Marcus Johnson became enraged on January 7, 2008 after a police officer told him to turn down the music in his car while it was parked outside a convenience store.
It is believed that Johnson told the officer “I am going to drive my car through city hall.”
According to authorities, he then drove his car downtown, and as he got to the ramp of the building, he accelerated his car to 45mph and drove it into the building.
The driver caused about $200,000 worth of damages and the town has since installed traffic barriers around the perimeter of the building.
His brother, Maurice, pleaded with the court to show leniency on his brother claiming he needs medical assistance.
Johnson told a judge early that morning he was hearing voices in his head.
He faces 10 years in prison if convicted.
