Part of it was that, since then, they have lost some of their best people. Rich Ceppos left to go to Autoweek (why, I don't know.....that apparantly was a company secret). Brock Yates, who is also gone (I think he just retired), was, IMO, a complete idiot behind the wheel, but, as a journalist, like Pat Bedard, wrote some good editorials up front....he added a lot to the magazine. Csaba Csede, another good automotive writer, got promoted to editor-in-chief, but, now, he's leaving, too.
If not, it's about time to start printing some MMarshall's Motor Mag. Sign me up.

Thanks, but, for a number of reasons, I never wanted to be part of the regular automotive press. It gives me a lot more time to work with people one-on-one.

IMO that's a cop out. The idea that you have to trade driving for added miles per gallon is not true. I don't even understand what this "it's not meant to be" line means. Who dictates what "it's intended to be", some executive? As the consumer, I can't ask for both? A BMW 3-Series is every bit as compliant and comfortable as any car, but yet it still manages to offer the best dynamics in its class. I just think this is a false trade off, you can have the best of both worlds, in fact, you should at least try if you are going to post a Lexus logo on the vehicle.
The most reliable car in the world
The most comfortable car in the world
Has the most features of any car in the world
Has the best interior of any car in the world
Has the best handling of any car in the world
The most comforable car in the world
The most spacious car in the world
The most powerful car in the world
The most economical car in the world
The most offroad capable car in the world
The most tow capable car in the world
The most utility capable car in the world
The best car for snow and bad weather
The quetest car in the world
Offers the best value for your money
I could go on, but I think you're missing the whole point here.

Yes, because the 3 series is the most compliant car in the world. Afterall it is...

BMW, of course, does offer some free service, but that is a company policy, not the car itself.

In reality (and I'm being completely unbiased here), the 3-series DOES have an excellent chassis/suspension, steering system, primary gauges, and brakes, but, other than that, is no better than anything else in its class, and is less reliable than the Lexus IS250/350. And the I-Drive, IMO, is a PITA.
It remains to be seen whether HS250 is good for what it is intended to be. Probably everyone on this board is looking towards your review on it. But sporty is not something it is meant to be.

they butchered the RX in this months issue as well. They said that the mpg is average as well as the performance. I have to admit it was nice when I had my infiniti and you would always read relatively positive reviews of their cars. The G35 was car of the year when it came out. The auto magazines dont like Lexus very much in terms of performance.

Can't let a C&D thread go without mention this...
C&D tries so hard to suck BMW's ball that they have to add one (1) "need to have" point in order to break the tie between the 2006 IS350 and 330i comparo. Also, that 330i in the comparo is so ****ty that they have to use the previous performance numbers for that comparo. For me, they lost all their credibility in that one single article.
They also don't understand that:
Not everyone is trying to build a 3-series.
If I want a god dang 3-series I'll go to the BMW dealer, I don't want a god dang Lexus 3-series.
How hard is that for their puny mind to understand?
