Default When will next gen IS and GS be out?

Anybody know when the next redesign of the IS and GS is going to be? Any speculation on what motors will be used? I hope the next GS 460 gets direct injection. Also i hope the IS grows in size. The current model is a bit too small. And I hope to see a IS-F coupe.

Being that both came out remodeled as MY2006, I hypothesize that the next generation models will be out as MY2012.

The 2006 GS arrived February 2005. The 2012 GS should arrive by early 2011.

The 2006 IS arrived October 2005. The 2012 IS should arrive by late 2011.

As for sizing, I don't think the IS will grow significantly "bigger." One: because it will creep into GS size territory, and two: it needs to be smaller, lighter, and more efficient to meet upcoming CAFE standards...

Is it just me or is the current gs already looking dated? I was a bit dissapointed with the looks of the current gs and peformance considering its a sports sedan. And based on the sales figures of the gs i'm not the only one who feels that way.

I can't wait for the next redesign. Hopefully something a little more exciting!

I though it didn't. Isn't that the reason why its making less power then the LS?

It looked dated the day it was revealed in January, 2004. I'll never forget the immediate disappointment felt by many members of this board the moment it was finally shown to the public. I distinctly remember every other post saying how much it "looked like a Maxima". It did and it still does. The previous generation Maxima that is.

The GS460 HAS direction injection. HP numbers were dropped so it didn't overpower the flagship LS460.

It is a 1UR-FSE motor. The "S" indicates a direct injection head.

Here's an old thread Kevin brought up last year:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-pictures.html

Here are some pics of the Engine from an 08 Lexus GS460 in Matador Red:

I also recall due to engine compartment restrictions the GS can't have the dual intakes like the LS, which is another factor in the limited power?
