Did the Toyota Landcruiser ever use a VW diesel engine?

Check this out. It's the German version of Wikipedia but this is pretty clear:

According to this, the early to mid 1980s Toyota Landcruiser used a Volkswagen turbodiesel engine (also used in the Range Rover of that time). Any truth to this?
