2010 Toyota 4runner info
Just thought I would pass along some info about the new 2010 Toyota 4runner. I am privy to some info and here it is.
4.0 litre V6 with dual VVTi/5speed transmission (as it stands no V8)
4 link solid axle.
Optional crawl control
Optional KDSS
Optional Xtreas
wheelbase is the same
height is a little lower
width is the same
All windows now feature AUTO UP/DOWN
Optional 20inch rims
Push button starts
smart key
Optional Optiron gauges.
Interior will look slighty similar to the Land Cruiser.

I'm surprised they're not bothering with a V8 since it'll probably be standard in the new GX... it'd be nothing to carry it over to the new 4runner.
We're pretty happy with our 2005 4runner so far but it's only got 45k miles or so... we'll probably keep it until just under 100k miles at an absolute minimum. Even then when it comes time to replace it we may just keep it as a third vehicle for my mountain trips, trips to the lake, towing, etc.
Whenever time comes to replace it I doubt I'll get another body on frame SUV... probably go unibody next time.

How will fuel economy compare to the older revision of the 4.0?
Not missing the 4.6 V8.. I think the 4.5TT V8 diesel would make a nice addition to the lineup though.

What has been done to the 4.0 to get those numbers? Is it still on 87 oct? Will it get the 6spd/6at tranny? Will the FJ get this updated engine?

The FJ gets the exact same update but is rated at 259HP and loses 8 lb-ft of torque...270lb-ft. It now recommends regular, not premium fuel.
Nothing about transmissions yet...

Dual VVTi, I think. Not sure what other changes have been made but it will indeed run on 87 octane.
