Default The 1952 Porsche type 542. Porsche's first sedan ( its not the Panamera)

Hey guys I came across this info after reading about it in a magazine this month. I did a little research and thought you guys might like to know what Porsche's actual first sedan was. This was Porsche's only 4 door until the Cayanne stormed in for 2003.

The car is interesting because it was a V6 sedan built for Studebaker in the 50's. Porsche called it te Type 542, but when sold under the studebaker name the car was called the Z - 87. I guess the Panamera isnt really the first sedan Porsche built.

Just a little info for you automotive enthusiasts and historians.

But that's why it was branded as Studebaker, not a Porsche. Nice bit of history.

I actually have this issue of R&T with this vehicle. It was a special 911 4 door built by a wealthy dealer who wanted one. THe 911 Troutman

In the early 1990s Ulrich Bez (not Aston CEO) wanted a 4 door Porsche....the 989 it was called internally....sadly Porsche was broke then and development stopped

Now we have this

I enjoy the styling of the Panamera, it's a nice attempt at a Porsche 4 door keeping its heritage of styling.

The studebaker doesn't actually look too bad. The panamera, on the other hand. Blech. Fortunately, Lamborghini opted to do a four door the right way. Sexy sexy.

I find the Panamera to be utterly sexy.

Seeing them in the flesh also helps. Stuttgart is filled with them.

I wondering if the car will fall on its face when released or will the LA ,got to have the new new car, drivers greet it with open arms. Look at the Hummer. It sold because it was so damn ugly.

My guess it will sell well in the first few months and fade later. Flavor of the month out of the gate, just because it's different.

Certain cars just do not need two sets of doors.

I second that. The 911 is one of them
