Does this look familiar?
Those air vents look sporty and dynamic - certainly not "outdated". Furthermore, how can air vents look "outdated"? That's like saying "I'm sick of the round wheels on cars. They look "outdated". It's time some manufacturer introduces square or triangular wheels..."
The press photos don't tell me anything about the design - I need to see the vehicle in real life for the design to fully work its magic on me.

I don't see a problem with the air vents. Mercedes has the design heritage to do what they want and in my opinion they're looking back at some of their older designs and bringing over certain styling traits with a more modern look to them.

If you look at high-res pictures, the front end is not that chunky. The headlight area is actually quite sleek. Only the front bumper and grille are chunky.
I disagree. I really didn't like their designs from a few years ago, designs which made Benz cars look almost like Chinese cars. They did not look or feel German to me very much. Designs like the current, dated S-Class, which I really do not like.
I much prefer this new direction for Benz. The styling is now bold, brash, and in-your-face, which is both very Benz and very German. Yes it's retro, but it's also immediately Benz. With this new styling trend, there is no way you will mistake Benz cars for any other brand, unlike the previous styling theme.
IMHO Benz has the best designs right now out of the German Big 3 (excluding the SLS).

that front shnoz is just foul.
we've talked about stupid euro pedestrian protection laws causing these squared off snouts, but how come other non-german brands don't seem to have had to do the same thing?
