Well this van Holy Dork guy better shape up and start designing cars thats want. It doesnt matter how good a car can perform, if it has an ugly interior and exterior, its not going to sell well.

Personally, I like wagons because a lot of people that buy cute-utes actually just wanted a wagon. I'm not sure I like this, but I didn't like the X6 'till I played with it either.

BMWs sells to people based on monthly payment. They ask for a reasonable down and since they continue to subsidize leases, you can get in a BMW for nothing. THe MSRP means nothing on the car. Add in free maintenance and its a no brainer for a lot of people.
You can look at any metropolitan newspaper and you can lease a 5 series for IS/C class/TL/ES money.

Here's the cheapest lease on BMWUSA.com
http://www.acura.com/tools/shopping/CurrentOffers.aspx
128i for $369/month, 4294 due at signing.
Acura.com
http://www.acura.com/tools/shopping/CurrentOffers.aspx
TSX for $299/month, 3299 due at signing
The TSX's sticker price is lower than the 328i, and its lease payments are roughly where they should be relative to the price of the car. Actually the TL is 399/month with only 2499 due at signing. If you paid 4294 at signing like on the BMW offer your payments would go down to $349/month, or in other words, less than the 128i.
The cheapest 5 series, 528i with a low 47k dollar MSRP is advertised at 489/month with 5214 due up front.
That's way higher than the TL. In fact let's look at the RL... Acura.com says 569/month with 3799 due at signing. Once we adjust for the difference in money due up front the RL comes down to 529/month or only 40 dollars more a month than the 528i. Its sticker price is nearly identical.
Point being while BMW has good lease rates that are subsidized... it's far from the only one doing this.

^ Internet is not always the best place to find out how comparible the lease rates are. When you go to a Bimmer dealership they're really willing to deal on the cars, when I was helping my mums friend find a car I found that Acura was not so interested in the practice.

the X6 and now this???? BMW is creating a bunch of ugly cars that really dont provide any advantage to any of their more traditional SUV's or sedans in this case.
