You would probably need AWD just to get out, then you'd have to re-wash the wheels/tires....and then deal with some ugly ruts in the ground.
No problem in these parts of California, clay soil is hard and firm during 300 days a year. You would only end up with a few blades of grass on the tires. No 4wd required. Obviously this should not be done during the rare torrential monsoon.

Short answer still applies here and may become the official recommendation here, wash it on the lawn so that pollutants are filtered via grass and soil to minimize dirty runoff.

Ive worked in seafood for quite some time now and alot of people poo poo the idea of farm raised fish even though there are more benefits to it other than ecological sustainability. It's sad.

Good luck ticketing nature when it rains.
Have you not learnt anything from previous governments? They will just make it illegal for any resident to live where rains falls and fine you when it does, so even if they can't ticket nature dirrectly they will be able to ticket it by getting into your pocket!

I don't wash my car with soap. And for runoff water catching car chemicals, it does that anyway when it rains.

I had salmon today, yummy, probably farm raised. I'm sure it can be done in a reasonably ecologically sound manner.

being a little overly dramatic aren't you?

how much water do you use? I thought you said you don't let your car(s) get that dirty???

I've washed my car over my lawn to give the grass and extra drink of water....of course I wouldn't do this if its rained for 3 days in a row and the ground is already soft...its called common sense.

"The officials are trying to prevent the runoff, with all of its soap, grim and metals from the car, from reaching rivers and streams and harming the fish and other aquatic life in them."
That's IT! My car is covered with grim. No wonder I can't get it clean!

BTW there are plenty of eco-friendly soaps out there - phosphate free, biodegradable products that will not strip wax or harm the environment. We used them for years on the boats in our marina, and kids were catching plenty of bream in the clear waters right off the dock. These soaps didn't foam, but they did do a reasonable job of removing traces of oil and slime while rinsing clean and spot free.

One of the keys to an environmentally responsible wash is to use only a capful or less soap in your wash bucket. Suds, as impressive as they might be, don't contribute anything to the cleaning process.
