I opened this thread expecting something like $149,900. $146k is a pretty good deal for the V10.

The GTR and ZR1 must **** Lamborghini off more that that

Actually Lamborghini sales are not alright at all. Look it up

the ZR1 is a better car in terms of performance......but not the GTR is not a better car, the R8 is faster, stronger, and pulls harder, its comparable to a GT2 porsche.......the ZR1 though is a beast!!!!

For 150 I can get a GTR spec V that will destroy the Audi R8 V10. The standard GTR is faster than the R8 V10. I just looked up the numbers and the standard GTR is faster . Imagine what the spec V will do to it. The V10 they are using has 40 more Hp but the GTR 40lb/ft more torque. Look it up. Thats all I am going to say. I know we all have our biases but you cant deny the actual numbers.

I saw an R8 yesterday, simply breathtaking. I would expect it to be more than 150K, from the double take and jaw drop after driving by it.

Sorry you missed what I was saying. Lambo is pissed 'Internally" b/c of the parts sharing and its HARDER to sell their car and explain why its "special" when its from the Audi parts bin. However, they have been selling cars fine until the economic downturn. It never hurt sales and it made Lambos more reliable and easier to use.

This has nothing to do with a ZR-1 or GT-R. One looking at a Gallardo or Murchialgo does not cross shop with those 2 cars.

numbers on paper are one thing, real life experience is another ......ive tried all three cars and the v-10 is a faster car than the GTR hands down, i wont deny it the GTR is a bargain, but if ur looking for a bargain then the R8 is not for u.......as I have mentioned before the V-10 is comparable to a GT2.

i think a lot of lambo buyers either buy it for the look (look at me factor), branding prestige, the soul of an italian car (for argument's sake lets keep it an italian) and then performance comes a slightly bit later

but the gallardo does have a bit of a tame factor with the LP560-4's 4 wheel drive

you get quite a different look from the R8 and that german engineering
and a whole other world of interior

i dont think Lambo is quite that pissed as long as they keep selling their car just fine and no chinese automakers tries to copy a lambo...

When you are talking about bargain, you must compromise something for the cheaper price. If you could get 80% quality/quantities of the genuine one for a 50% price, this is a great deal imo. Compared to Gallardo, R8 V10 is a bargain. Compared to 911 Turbo, GT-R is a bargain. Compared to 599GTB Fiorano, Corvette ZR1 is a bargain. Compared to F430, Cayman S is a bargain. Compared to RS4, Lancer Evolution is a bargain. Compared to M3, 370Z is a bargain. MX-5 is pretty much a bargain to any unpractical fun-to-drive pure sports car. So yeah, I could still look for a R8 V10 when searching for bargain.

a lot of those comparisons you mentioned do not make sense if you take in account of the whole ownership experience, luxury/interior factor and so on.

also Cayman S is not really comparable to F430 performance wise

im sure most people out there dont just buy cars based on performance, they also take in account of looks, luxury amenities and such

R8 V10 bargain argument vs a gallardo works because R8 looks good in and out too and offers quite a package for the money overall and not just in the performance department

but cant be said to the rest of the cars in your argument

so what I could always take a civic si and try and call it an m3 after "dropping $20k into it" - fact is it will never be an M3.

Please forgive me when I say this as I am absolutely not trying to come across as a *****, but those words are what someone who could not afford any of those cars. Ask anybody with the means to buy a car in the mid $100K to over $200K and see if they care about $50K in their pocket when buying a car that has prestige ,luxury, driving experience, performance and just plain all around wow factor...which the GTR does not have apart from performance.
