My neighbor is selling a 2000 Honda s2000 with 180k miles.
The kbb trade-in price in (good condition) is $4,000. She said clutch needs replacement about $1700 from the dealer. The convertible top has been replaced about a year ago. She will take it to carmax and give it to them if I pass on it.
What should I offer?
She's going thru a divorce and just wants it gone.
I heard these cars are fun to drive and very reliable. I have never owned a convertible but its worth looking into.

180K? What in the world does she do for a living?
That's somewhat high mileage for any car, even a Honda. I would check some of the Honda forums and ask them about concerns or common issues with that model year, issues to watch for with age, etc
I would probably offer her like $2,000 for it. Carmax will probably offer her even less than that.

Her husband drove it to work everyday from Illinois to Indiana (weather permitting). Mostly highway miles. They took extreme care of it and it has never been in a accident.
The car is red with a black top.

I would surely go for it too, talk about getting into a cheap awesome fun vert weekend toy. Even if it needs a little TLC if you can get it for 3500 or less do it..
I really like those cars.

Great reliable car. I paid 900 to replace the clutch @ the honda dealership.
Only problem was people kept slashing my top and each time was 2800.00 (i got slashed 3 times) If i were to buy another one Id just buy a hardtop..
