Default Govt CARS program qualifies is250 but not the C300 wtf?

I've been looking for a new small car for myself to use a commuter vehicle. It's been the is250 or a c300 because right now both have stupidly awesome lease deals.

C300 does not qualify for the CARS program, the is250 does. WTF???

Can anyone verify this? I'd get the C300 over IS250 but that CARS program would help me unload an old german tank that I have sitting in my garage.

I assumed there was no way in hell that little C300 gets under 22 MPG combined but according to the EPA it gets 21 MPG. That is HORRIFIC!

a 1990 560SEL. Black with grey interior runs beautifully only because I put the money into keeping it running well. I get like 12 mpg when i drive it on sundays and 15 when i use it for roadtrips to vegas.

it's gone into the cars program as of saturday.

so let me get this straight... if you buy a car that gets 22mpg or better the government will give you a tax credit of something like 3500 dollars?????

if you get more than 4-5 mpg for the new car, its $3500. If your new car gets 10+ mpg over the trade in, you get $4500

Not sure what is worse. The fact that is now kinda bootleg (though 22MPG is better than 12 MPG) or the new baby Benz gets 21 MPG average. I'm still appalled at how low that is!

(Goes to switch position on cash for clunkers)

What if I would like to unload a 96 Honda Civic that is a POS, relatively speaking, it has over 150k on it, odometer stopped, and everything leaks, runs well oddly and get excellent gas mileage

It's always amazed me how Lexus has been able to make relatively fuel efficient, potent vehicles. It's always me how Merc has been able to make cars that just suck at gas mileage.

303 HP GS350: 19/27.
268 HP E350: 16/24.

WTF?

A new C300 gets 18 MPG city and 25 Highway with 228hp. A whooping whole gallon more than a V-8 GS 460 with 342hp or LS 460 with 380hp mind you both are bigger, heavier and way more luxurious.

Am I missing something here? Amazing they sell so well. People hate fuel economy
