I remember telling my dad that I wanted a subscription to road and track. He didnt know what to make of the request since he didnt teach me anything about cars because he wasnt into them. In the end he started the subscription for me to allow me to read something I was interested in when I was growing up.

one of my uncles was a engineer at Mazda, hr would always be talking about engines/ and cars also taught me to drive a stick when i was about 11 yrs old. He always got me all the latest model cars like S class, lambo etc.
Oh ya i used to love that Testarossa in Miami vice ..sweet

My extreme interest in cars started when I was in 4th grade. I read all the car mags feverishly and asked my dad 20 questions on a daily basis about how cars worked. At that age I seemed to be more interested in how they worked and what made one different from the next than actually obsessed over 'cool' cars. About a year later I came across the first car I was obsessed with... first because of its engine and second because of its looks. That was a 4th generation Pontiac Firebird. This was in ~1993 when the new ones had just come out.

I spent so much energy trying to convince my dad he should get one of those cars. Looking back I realize it'd have probably been easier to convince the pope to renounce his faith because my dad has owned all of three cars for his personal driving use in his entire life and none of them have been very exciting. He's plenty knowledgeable about cars, but he's just a very cheap and practical guy and would never consider a car like that.
