I like the 03-09 more than the new E-class. I really like the interior, it just looks nice and smooth. I guess it's more "elegant". The same for the exterior. I like how the new steering wheel(07-09 e-class), and how the dash looks. If I could afford a mid-size luxury sedan, I'd probably get this E-class.

I had one for a loaner car for several days (E350), nice enough but a bit boring.

In terms of exterior appearance, I think it's the best looking E-class ever.
Saw the new one in person many times recently & not impressed, especially the rear end.

At first, I thought the sedan version looked kinda plain. But after seeing it in real life, it looks quite better

(and moreso with the AMG version).

That and if I like the sedan rear-end NOW, then whatmore with the coupe and wagon versions.

I feel that the '09 E class is bland. The front says Mercedes. The side says 1980s Ford and the rear says 1990s Ford. Boooring. The 2010 is much more refined.

I dont believe you can pick up 2009 E350 for 34k, no way it's cheaper than ES350, thats just crazy talk!!!

Here is my case and point...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/E-Cla...=p4506.c0.m245

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LOADE...=p4506.c0.m245

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/E350-...=p4506.c0.m245

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AMG-S...=p4506.c0.m245

and these are used.. sometimes salespeople are full of crap when they know you are NOT buying... that 34k figure does NOT sound right!

Same here in Silicon Valley, plenty around. I took a good look of inside/outside at the new E350 at dealer and wasn't that impressed, couldn't be bothered to drive it during that visit.

I agree completely.

I wasn't all that impressed with the pics...but after seeing one up close in person I was.

They had a Palladium Silver one with the panoramic roof in the mall downtown in Spokane when we were there a couple of weeks ago. It even got the wife's attention. It will certainly give the 5 series a good run depending on what BMW does.

Course I want one that says 63 or M on it.

IS-SV are you impressed with your C300?? if you like your C, I dont understand why you are down playing the New E??? They have so many similar style elements IMO. Currently the New E crushes anything in it's League PERIOD (style, tech, performance, and price)!

some folks were indeed buying base e350's for $34k a couple of months ago when MB was offering huge incentives on leftover 09's. plus there are/were fleet discounts for an extra 4-5 grand off.
i needed a new DD and picked up a E550 at that time for $21k off msrp, and that was without any fleet discount. too bad most 09's are gone now. i like the new body style as well but have always liked the classic style of the W211. with the discount, i just couldnt pass it up.

Yes, the C300 is successfully delivering a good value Mercedes.

Good questions. The styling of the C is cleaner (mainly roofline and doesn't have those goofy squarish styling elements front and back). And the large price difference between the C & E comparibly equipped is not justified IMO. The sales stats are already tending to prove this out I think, probably more due to price resistance.
