What do you guys think of the 2009 (old body style) Mercedes E class?

They have tremendous discounts on the 2009 E class now (Around $20k off of MSRP) and I am considering pulling the trigger. For example, a base E350 w/AMG sport package is selling for $34k! What do you guys think about them, more specifically the E350? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

i loved that E class look until the new E class came out. Definately a little old tech for a 2009 model because it still has the old COMAND navigation system. I would pass it up even with the huge discounts

It looks very classy, I like it very much especially with the AMG look. Go for it if you don't mind driving the "old" version right after you bought it, I don't think you would when you think of how much money you have saved.

The old E350 is good looking and solid, but with only mediocre (poor to fair) reliability. The discounts you noted are already translating into really bad resale value, especially with the new E-class available.
I fully expect the 2010 E-class to be significantly more reliable, since it's a new design. I base that guess on the success of the redesigned C-class (model year 2008) resulting from much more thorough reliability and quality testing prior to release.
So my opinion, pass.

Depends on if you like "European" styling or "Japanese" styling. Funny to think that a lot of European cars are getting Japanese styling. I was two cars behind a 2010 E and saw the LED tails and just couldn't make out what it was. I was behind for a while and kept thinking if it was a new Infiniti or maybe something Korean. The car ahead of me finally went to the right lane so I sped up and caught up to the car... first thought "A MB????"
Totally not European looking at all. So, again, if you like the current style, then go for it. If you like the Japanese styling, but with an European handle, then maybe go with the 2010.

hummm, since it's 2009 final model year, I would beg to differ and say it's quite reliable! 2010 is a bigger question mark compare to 09 IMO, but I LOVE the 2010 too much to suggest 09! If you can swing a 2010, go for 2010!!!

if you are in the market for that type of luxury cruisier, then yes go for it.
IMO the '09 styling is far superior than the '10 facelift which looks just awful
$34k is a steal, that car is definitely a "$50k" type vehicle.
