just something to think about..

My sis E46 M3 went in for the Inspec II service... came out with a $2,800 bill... there was no other major work.... just strictly what was on the Inspec II list... They kept the car for 2 days though.

If money is not a factor... M3 all the way..

My co-worker just had Inspection II done. It took 1 day and cost $0 - it as covered under the extended maintenance package the previous owner had purchased. As for "no major work," Inspection II should cover a valve adjustment (unless her's were within spec); I'm not sure that is considered "minor."

This is a tough one, if she is going to keep the IS300, you have to put money into it, i.e. you need to have a turbo, but this is expensive.

The M3 can also be expensive to own and maintain, even more expensive to mod, but it has good power and great handling in stock form.

My advice, if you want an all out project car keep the IS300, if you just want a nice car in stock form that you don't want to upgrade much, go for the M3.

Hey guys

I love this thread , thx Brian

Oh I would TOTALLY have both, but I've no where to put both. I don't owe anything on the IS which is great, and I definitely appreciated the IS today because driving stick possibly would have just been too much for me.

Reason it took me so long to post in here: we had a staff party last night, I got home @ 5:30am and I still had to go to work today ... I STILL feel like hell even now. I think you guys get the idea.

BTW, my avitar is actually me, the pic isn't terribly current but I look about the same.

I definitely want the car to stay in my life so I really want to sell it to someone who will join us here at CL.

If I were to keep the IS I would definitely have to start putting some serious money into it.

Still a little torn, but I think I'm still going to stick with my original plan & get the M3. I definitely still think the IS300 is a far more attractive car than any 3 but it's hard to argue with the M3 as a well done car all around.

thx rominl

I had another perfect moment in my IS earlier this afternoon. I certainly wouldn't rule out getting another IS300 later on when perhaps I have more places to put cars, but for now since we're not about to build a second garage in the back yard (we're probably moving sometime with in the year as well) the space confine means I simply can't have both & I want the fun, fast car that can be the every day car too.
