It is clear your hate for the LS is worse than my hate of Acura design. At least my disgust has credibility, your disgust doesn't. Every single expert has raved over the LS interior. WORST case is its on par with the compeititon.

You are MAKING UP in your MIND it is somehow "lower" than the others.

You do realize the LS debuted in 2006 right. The remote touch debuted in the new RX. It will eventually come to the LS and other models.

Every brand starts somewhere when they bring in some new tech or design so you are off base here.

On top of that I-drive is horrendous even if its gotten better and continues to get beat up in reviews. Even Lexus themselves stated they would PREFER not to use a "controller".

If you are here to beat the LS to a bloody pulp (again), please exit the thread. Everyone here is CLEAR you hate the LS 460/600.

I don't hate the LS. I don't mind it. But the LS460 is not the be-all/end-all luxury flagship that it once was.

The LS460 is slightly behind the LS430 interior yet the design of the central HVAC/RADIO etc is not at the same advanced level of the Audi, S class or BMW.....The BMW took luxury interiors to the next level with the 7-series...What did the LS do? NOTHING..yet it has good materials

Even Lexus themselves stated they would PREFER not to use a "controller".
Put MARKETING....just like when TOYOTA said the door panel gaps are larger on the Tundra becuase truckers precieve the vehicle as being larger after being called out by the big three.

The new XJ interior looks great though!
one thing about those 'German' interiors which in those pics are all light colored - the dash top is also light colored. i think with the LS it's ALWAYS the dark gray, right? maybe that's another issue i have with it when the rest is in light color (like the alabaster). i think most interiors look better in dark colors and in the LS the bottom then matches the top at least.

about the controller, i expect it will come to the LS because lexus obviously knows how to do a great implementation getting raves about the one in the new RX.

i would actually like to see the large nav screens go away or become less critical through voice commands, heads up displays, integrating information into the main guages, etc. that would allow for a cleaner dash.

I feel that the interiors from bmw, mercedes and audi are starting to look a little dated.

IMO the Porsche Panamera ( as ugly as it is ) has the best interior quality and design that I have seen in any vehicle. They really did their homework when designing the interior of that car. Its got insane luxury features

i think the A8 interior looking little dated, BMW brings back the shifter (I don't like), S550 looks very classy but the bottom part of the center stack looks kinda empty/plain... LS460 interior biggest issue for me is Navi position, needs to be higher up and does need to kill the touch screen feature. I would also like to see some advancement in the instrument cluster for the LS. Looks pretty much the same from 1st gen LS/Lexus's IMO...

overall the new RX looks better, but I don't like the following...

the shape of chrome bar in the back and the shape surrounding the license plate looks terrible. The interior center stack also looks horrible same with the shifter position....

Lexus also needs to cut down on the use of painted silver plastic (simulated aluminum) on the center stack. Why not use real aluminum in its place ?

The RX, HS, ES, LS have adopted the Venza style grill. Question is will the GS & other upcoming models follow this trend?

i hate all remote controllers. be it the audi, merc, or bmw

i want a lightning quick touch screen, like the ones you use at the atm, or supermarket self-checkout lines.

those are super quick, and you don't have to press hard. it senses your fingers.

these remote controllers are too slow compares to a good touchscreen.

I dread the day when this remote touch controller makes it into all Lexus models. I have never used anything more horrible than that.

I really hate the dash of the S Class. Minus the wood and leather, the design itself looks like a minivan IMO.

I wouldnt go as far as calling it a minivan but I hate interiors without a proper gear shifter. Steering wheel gear shifters remind me of older Buicks.

I recently had a 2010 RX loaner and I thiught the remote / mouse was pretty cool. After a day or two with it you learn how to use it better, but I cant help but feel that the old push button worked so well for so long. I think its funny that Lexus drivers are older yet Lexus designs a mouse into the control panel of the car

Light beige doesn't quite cut it does it?

If you're not going to go cream or white (which are nasty to keep clean) then, I agree dark is definitely better. I've always been partial to dark grey or black....but the "camel" from BMW is absolutely beautiful.
My father tried to get it in his X6, but it wasn't available. A friend has it in his dark blue 745il and I drool over it....lol.

I've seen you post this before and I can't comprehend it?

Have you actually had driving time with iDrive, Command, and Remote touch to compare? Not just sitting in them, but driving them on the road?

I've played with all of the systems with our abundance of car shopping this past year and can't figure out how you disparage Remote Touch.

It is, by leaps and bounds, the best navigation device available on the market today. It is simple, intuitive and easy to operate. What more could you want? MB, BMW and Audi wish they could come up with such a smooth system.
