It's clearly a popular "mod" and SOMEONE is making a killing in sales for bringing it to the market.

I do find its popularity pretty shocking but its no different than Altezzas and other things people do.

I can understand the concept of looking like a Maserati which is ridiculous but who in the world wants their car to look like a Buick?!?

Next time i see one of these people at a redlight - i will ask whats their inspiration for this mod...!

Not really. Vinyl roofs were nice-looking, but were a pain in the a** to take care of, often ripped or tore, and were often poorly-installed (those were the days, in the 70s and early 80s, don't forget, of some of Detroit's worst quality control). They also could (and often did) promote rust and corrosion underneath from trapped moisture.

Velour cloth, yes, is nice, but, of course, is simply out of place on some vehicles. You generally wouldn't want it in sports cars, work-type pickups, or hard-core off-roaders, for example.

Back on topic, the fake vents are popular in the lower rent neighborhoods.
So are those flashy, spin-at-a-stop wheel covers. I think we can both agree that they are silly.

Agreed, those are some of the nastiest-looking accessories of the last 50 years.
