as others have mentioned, cost of a replacement battery has gone way down, so it should be a moot point. and don't forget that lexus warranties all hybrid systems (including the hybrid battery pack) for 8 years or 160,000 KM (it is for me up here in canada; for the USA, it should be similar).

We in Cali have the warranty on the whole hybrid system for 10 years/150K
