Have you driven an RDX? It rides too firmly for my tastes (don't know about yours), but the handling and torque from its turbo 4 (the only turbo Honda engine in the American market) are both noticeably better than the MDX. Not that the MDX's drivetrain and chassis is incompetent by any means (they aren't), but you will notice the difference in responsiveness when you drive one.
The current MDX's interior is also noticeably less-plush than the last-generation one, and its steering wheel, at least on the last one I drove, had poor construction and uncomfortable leather stitching that dug into your fingers. The RDX's steering wheel didn't seem to have that problem, and it seems to be more of a strictly sporting machine, so its lack of interior plushness doesn't matter as much as it does on the MDX.

I thought the RSX was dropped for prestige, Tier-1 reasons...now they're bringing it back? For a company with sales declines, this makes sense, but not for the prestige reason. However, I'm thinking the Tier-1 quest is quixotic and ignores what made Acura an initial success...the affordable luxury brand.

Agreed. You hit the nail on the head. The 3rd-generation Integra (which you posted here) and the current-generation RL are probably the two best products Acura has ever done, though some versions of the 1st-Gen TSX were pretty nice, too. I almost bought a 3rd-gen Integra myself.
