Honda Announces Pricing for All-new 2010 Accord Crosstour

Sadly, I think you are right. Although this is a "different" type of vehicle, so more hurdles for the customer to get pass before accepting this, as opposed to if it was just an ugly accord. Just look at what happened to the Lexus Sportcross

Though they have not been entirely without quality issues, as the older Accord/TL transmissions and some Civic paint jobs have shown, Honda/Acura products sell primarily on their superb build quality, not looks. I say superb when compared to the average new vehicle today. Consumer Reports agrees, they rank Honda as the company building the best overall automotive products today, in terms of their criteria for quality and performance.....with Subaru and Toyota right behind them. Honda and Subaru are the only two companies where every product they sell in the U.S. is on CR's Recommended list. Almost every one I know who has bought a Honda product, with or without my recommendation, has sone so from their reputation or because of previous good experience with Honda products.
But, however, you are correct about some Honda/Acura products being ugly. The new parrot-beak Acura grilles are absurd, and the new TL, in particular, by my standards, won't win any beauty contests.

They (Honda and Honda plus Acura) might have the ugliest lineup we have ever seen, even now past Mitsubishi and BMW.

Wow that is a hideous photochop of the Crosstour front end on an Accord. Sadly I think the Accord facelift will look similar to that. I fear what the next-gen Civic and Accord will look like, given the horrible designs we've recently seen from Honda/Acura.
Not true. Historically, Honda/Acura models were never THIS ugly. Also in the past, Honda/Acura models had more compelling features/characteristics/selling points when compared to the competition. Now, no longer.
TL sales are on a downward trend, and pale right now in comparison to the older ES. The IS is also beating the TL in sales. This is despite fairly heavy incentives on the new TL, as well as the TL having the "new" factor.

It's actually not bad when seen in person if the spy pics are any indication. The grille is less distracting. Apart from the Pilot and maybe this, I can't really think of any unattractive Honda vehicles. Maybe the insight. The Accord is a beaut, the Civic, well personally I don't find it attractive, but it appeals to a lot of people. Apart from maybe the ZDX, I like pretty much all of Acura's designs.
The Pilot is offensive and just ruined an elegant design that was the first generation. The outcry from this design is just ridiculous. (Although, the Accord's grille would have made it look a lot better)

This is from a Sept. 2008 release for the new TL...
The Acura division of American Honda Motors has launched its most ambitious and wide-ranging effort of the year, according to Susie Rossick, manager of national advertising.
"We're defining power [in the spots] through strength, precision and grace," said Rossick.
Rossick said the media targets the 35-45 demographic with buys during college football—the model is the official sponsor of Pac 10 games—Monday Night Football, ESPN's SportsCenter, The Daily Show and The History Channel, as well as the spot market.
Rossick predicted that the TL would do well despite it being "a tough environment to launch a car."AHM has set a sales goal of 70,000 units for the model year. The TL was introduced five years ago, she said, and "the most important part of the campaign is to show that it is all new and redesigned and to re-create the enthusiasm and aspiration for the car."
By the numbers since the 2009 TL came out (full month October 2008)
Oct 08 4,340 +22.2%
Nov 08 3,160 -22.2%
Dec 08 3,607 -39.8%
Jan 09 2,317 -31.4%
Feb 09 2,490 -37.2%
Mar 09 3,231 -21.3%
Apr 09 3,105 -27.6%
May 09 3,375 -18.4%
Jun 09 3,018 -16.1%
Jul 09 3,309 -16.5%
Aug 09 3,003 -37.6%
Total model year sales 34,955. This is half of the original sales target. That's a big miss.
YTD, compared with one of its chief rival the ES350, as 1SICK has been posting, the TL is at 23,848 down 26.2% vs the ES at 30,385 down 34.2%.
The TL sales don't look all that OK, considering that it's a complete redesign.

The new TL is a complete and utter FAILURE. Period.
