2010 Lexus GX to Debut in Shanghai
If you sell luxury SUVs, it's not enough just to sell them in the U.S. anymore. Rather, you need a presence in the other big market: China. And so the world's first glimpse at the redesigned 2010 Lexus GX, successor to the existing GX 470 (the old model is shown above), will come next month in Shanghai.
Undoubtedly, it will share its platform architecture and major drivetrain components with the 2010 Toyota 4Runner, also redesigned, and scheduled to debut September 24 at the Texas State Fair. Update: And it's rumored that Toyota will unveil the European-market Land Cruiser, which is essentially a GX under a different name and badge, at this month's Frankfurt Auto Show.
The all-new 2010 Lexus GX will arrive at U.S. dealers in December. Full product details will be released in late November.

That is the Land Cruiser Prado, which comes in 2 and 4 door versions...the GX is largely a V8-powered version of the Prado.
I'm expecting a similar look as the LX for the new GX.

The GX has been such a sleeper most people dont even know what it is! lol
I hope Lexus doesn't screw up this one. It could be a good money maker if it's styled right. Ditto for a new SC.

The GX was the middle child that no one really cared for. The LX had the size and gerth for those rich folks who could afford it to make a statement and say "hey, I'm rich, bad, big, and I'm coming down the road so move aside. I don't care if I'm burning up fuel faster than Obama's healthcare reform..."
The RX is the money maker. Sized just right, "affordable", and fit five with plenty enough storage.
The GX was basically the person that probably would have taken the RX, but needed the third row for people. I'm actually in the GX category. I have three kids and was hoping the new RX would have a "dummy" 3rd row, but it did not, so I just might have to upgrade now.
Hope the GX looks respectable and take out those plastic side panels... ugh...
