An IS-F does not lag that much behind an E9x M3 for one, and their weight difference isn't all that much either. I think with an LSD alone, and ISF will more than keep up with an M3, with ~330+lbs of weight reduction it would simply obliterate it.

Photoshop or not, there have been modified IS-F prototypes seen testing on the Nurburgring, and this year at the Nurburgring 24 hours race Gazoo Racing along with their 2 LF-A cars also raced an IS-F with a big hood vent. Possible testing of an IS-F "Evo" perhaps?

Akio Toyoda is dead serious about bringing more performance models to both the Toyota and Lexus brands.

Don't be surprised to see this IS-F "Evo" or "IS-F R" come out. When the IS-F came out it shocked a lot of enthusiasts and Lexus owners.

Also the 2010 IS-F with it's LSD should be able to keep up with an E90 M3. This "IS-F R" would eat an E90 M3, especially if these specs are true.

It's also a strong possibility that they are just testing/tuning the IS F for entry into various racing series, not necessarily for an on-road production variation. In fact, I'd rather have them concentrate on improving the car through experience in motorsports, and then use that experience/knowledge to come out with a proper street version based on that.

Yes I'm sure they are doing that as well, and possibility evaluating technologies, and gaining experience for the next-gen IS-F. But a hardcore "IS F R" version of the current generation cannot be ruled out. We shall see if these rumors are true.

I'd like to see the IS-F Evo come to fruition, and here in N America as well if possible.

From all the interviews, articles, press accounts etc., Akio Toyoda is more performance oriented than any TMC CEO in decades. Without him, the LF-A would have been canned, and he was a backer of the IS-F as well. Now with the Toyobaru coupe, etc. it's clear they are serious about more performance models.

That said, the environmental emphasis remains the focus at TMC and other manufacturers, and that won't change. But lightweight and more efficient, improved performance, is not incompatible with a greener emphasis.

It's an additional model to the IS line of Lexus vehicles. Toyoda will help to bring a lot more to the market than this, trust me. He is a major reason why were are getting the LF A.

Honda/Nissan/Mazda/______ enthusiasts should only be so lucky. The LF-A is literally a dream car that most Toyota enthusiasts never thought would happen. It is a car that is a step above the NSX or the GT-R, or the Corvette.

sorry, i won't trust you on this, i'll wait and see.

toyota's been cutting budgets big time so i don't expect toyota to have more than 1 or 2 sporty cars in the next 5 years but that would beat zero (i'm not including lexus). we'll see.

the lf a is irrelevant as far as i'm concerned and who knows when it might show up. i'm sure it will be awesome, to the lucky few that see one let alone own one.

the is f was a good step, and a bit of an awkward one (good specs, but kinda tacky and not in keeping with the rest of the line-up) but still just ONE step.

It is a car that is a step above the NSX or the GT-R, or the Corvette.
i still don't get the point. so lexus does a ferrari... mmmkay.
